Caroline Thiesing (née Huck; 10 July 1905 – 22 July 2016) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known living person in Massachusetts at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Thiesing was born as Caroline Huck in New Britain, Connecticut, on 10 July 1905 as one of eight daughters of Adam Ulcas Huck and Wilhelmina (née Rittner) Huck. She was married twice, firstly to James Thomson, with whom she had three children: Arthur, William (who grew up to be a noted fine artist), and Caroline (who later married Paul Guilmette). Her second marriage was to Arthur M. Thiesing.
Thiesing worked as a clock maker at the erstwhile E. Ingraham & Company. She lived for a long time in Bristol, Connecticut, before moving to Framingham, Massachusetts, in the mid-1990s to be with her daughter, also named Caroline. She later moved to St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham in her later years.
She became the oldest known living person in Massachusetts, following the death of Goldie Michelson on 8 July 2016.
Thiesing died in Framingham, Massachusetts, on 22 July 2016 at the age of 111 years, 12 days.
