Carrie Elizabeth King (née Black; 26 October 1878 – 1 January 1991) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Carrie Elizabeth Black was born in New Martinsville, Ohio, USA on 26 October 1878 as the oldest of four children to John and Emma Rist Black. She moved to West Virginia, where she married Harvey King in 1899. The couple had six children. Their first house burned down in 1915 and they later moved to Ohio, where Harvey King died in 1930. Carrie and a son remained in Ohio until Carrie fractured a hip in 1975 and moved to a nursing home in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
King said that she never voted, flew in an airplane, played cards, or danced.
King died in Parkersburg, West Virginia, USA on 1 January 1991 at the age of 112 years, 67 days
