Catharine Boring Alter (neé Purkhiser) (22 December 1776 – 20 August 1886) was an American centenarian from Pennsylvania.

Catharine Alter was born as Catharine Purkhisher in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States on 22 December 1776. She was married twice. Her first husband was Jacob Henry Boring (1783 – 1834) and second husband was David T. Alter (1812 – 1884). She died in Decatur County, Indiana, United States on 20 August 1886 at the age of 109 years, 241 days.
