Catherine "Katie" Reed (née Woods; 20 January 1902 – 15 October 2013) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest known people in the US state of Washington at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Catherine Reed was born as Catherine "Katie" Woods in St. Louis, Missouri, USA on 20 January 1902. She went to school only through the ninth grade, and she eloped at 17. She married James Reed Sr. and had three children: Frank Reed Jr. (1921–2017), James Reed (1931–2012) and Barbara Gibson (born c.1942). She was widowed in 1979. She moved to Washington in 1989. She lived at Bothell Life Care Center.
Reed died in Bothell, Washington, USA on 15 October 2013 at the age of 111 years, 268 days. She survived by one son Frank Reed Jr., one daughter Barbara Gibson, one son-in-law Elgie Gibson, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
