Charlie Gumbs (26 August 1910 – 29 April 2014) was an Anguillian centenarian.
Biography[]
Charlie Gumbs was born in Anguilla on 26 August 1910. He was a businessman, and taxi-driver and didn’t retire from the latter until at least 1988. He was awarded the Queen’s Certificate and Medal of Honour for his contribution to the Anguilla Revolution in 1967-69. He married multiple times.
Gumbs became oldest living Anguillian after the death of Melvina Webster on 23 May 2011.
Gumbs died in The Quarter, Anguilla on 29 April 2014 at the age of 103 years, 246 days. He is currently the oldest known man ever and the sixth-oldest known person ever from Anguilla.
