Charlotte Lockett (née Tucker; 12 October 1912/1913 – 2 June 2019) was an American centenarian whose age was debunked by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2024.
Biography[]
Lockett was born as Charlotte Tucker in Edgefield, South Carolina, United States, on the claimed date of 12 October 1907. As a child, she went to a Catholic school in Augusta, Georgia. Her father died when she was young, and after which, she moved with her mother and siblings to Harlem, Manhattan, New York.
Lockett married her husband, Hampton Lockett, on 9 March 1936, and the couple had three children. Lockett worked as a dietitian in St. Vincent's Medical Center, and was reported to find the job "very rewarding". After retiring, she relished in being able to spend time with her family. Her husband died in 1962 after 26 years of marriage.
Lockett was the oldest attendee of a centenarian celebration in the Bronx in May 2015, when she was 107. She was reported to have a "generous spirit and pleasant personality". She died in Williamsbridge, Bronx, New York, United States, on 2 June 2019 at the age of 105/106 years, 233 days (claimed 111 years, 233 days).
