Biography
Pritchett was born as Charlotte Elizabeth Harper in Alabama, United States, on 8 February 1875 (citation needed) (claimed 1866) as the fifth child of Mitchell and Lizzie Harper, former slaves who moved to Alabama from South Carolina. Her father was a Cherokee and her mother a Creek, and they allegedly lived to be 104 and 116 respectively.
In 1893, she married General Pritchett, and the couple had 13 children, nine of whom Pritchett outlived. Her husband died in 1938 after 45 years of marriage. In 1980, at the claimed age of 114, she was featured on local television as the oldest member of her family. In 1985, she was reported to have had, along with her 13 children, 41 grandchildren, 104 great-grandchildren, and 132 great-great-grandchildren. Her oldest surviving child was 76-year-old son Itney, followed by Lottie (married Stephen), Inez (married White), and Jimmy.
Pritchett died in Dixons Mill, Alabama, United States, on 24 December 1985 at the age 110 (claimed 119) years, 319 days while recovering from a gallbladder surgery. At the time of her death, she was reported to have around 400 descendants.
