Chevelar Montenegro Peixoto (15 November 1904 - 27 May 2016) was a supercentenarian from Brazil whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography[]
Chevelar Montenegro Peixoto was born in Santarém, Pará, Brazil on 15 November 1904. His parents were from Ceará, explorers of the former territory of Roraima. He was the son of the couple Norberto Gonçalves Peixoto and Francisca Montenegro Peixoto, and he had 6 brothers. He was a prosperous cattle rancher, farmer and trader. In the 1960s, he had a business in Serra do Tepequém, selling goods, food and other items that were purchased by families in the region and also by miners. He was well known for speaking out about his political views in the 1960s. He married twice and he had 10 children, 8 granddaughters, 6 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chevelar Montenegro Peixoto died in Pará, Brazil on 27 May 2016 at the age of 111 years, 194 days. He was believed to be oldest living man in Brazil after the death of Joaquim Saraiva Lessa on 16 August 2015 to his own death. As of 2024, he remains the 9th oldest man from Brazil.
