Chiyo Shiraishi [Japanese: 白石チヨ] (6 August 1895 – 19 November 2009) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in Japan, behind Kama Chinen.
Biography
Chiyo Shiraishi was born in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. She married at the age of 19, and had six children. She later moved to Hitachiota in Ibaraki Prefecture.
Shiraishi's age was verified by Japan's MHLW and Ken Matsuoka, and validated by the GRG on 20 October 2005.
Chiyo Shiraishi died in Hitachiota, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan on 19 November 2009, at the age of 114 years, 105 days.
Shiraishi currently holds the record of the oldest validated person ever born in Fukushima Prefecture. She also was the oldest validated person who ever died in Ibaraki Prefecture until Ina Okazawa surpassed her age on 24 June 2024.
