Chiyo Yamamoto [Japanese: 山本千代] (18 February 1911 – fl.1 October 2023) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest known living person in Kyoto Prefecture at the time she went to limbo. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Chiyo Yamamoto was born in Japan on 18 February 1911. In February 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
In September 2021, Yamamoto was reported to be the second-oldest known living person in Kyoto Prefecture, after Natsue Fujii.
Yamamoto's age was verified by Japan's MHLW and Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by the GRG on 4 April 2023.
Chiyo Yamamoto was last confirmed alive in Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan on 1 October 2023, at the age of 112 years, 225 days.
