Chiyo Yamamoto [Japanese: 山本千代] (18 February 1911 – fl.1 October 2023) was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Kyoto Prefecture at the time she went to limbo. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Chiyo Yamamoto was born in Japan on 18 February 1911. In February 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

In September 2021, Yamamoto was reported to be the second-oldest living person in Kyoto Prefecture, after Natsue Fujii. Following Natsue Fujii's death in April 2022, she became the oldest living person in Kyoto Prefecture.

Yamamoto's age was verified by Japan's MHLW and Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by the GRG on 4 April 2023.

Chiyo Yamamoto was last confirmed alive in Kita Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan on 1 October 2023, at the age of 112 years, 225 days. On 1 January 2024, she went to limbo, as no more people aged over 110 years old were listed in Kita Ward population statistics.
