Christine Hoscheid (16 February 1907 – 2018) was a German supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was one of the oldest known living people in Germany.
Biography
Christine Hoscheid was born on 16 February 1907 in Germany as the first of four children born to her parents. Her father was a driver and her mother a housekeeper. In the Nazi era, she worked in a launderette and had several conflicts with the owner, which were always settled in court. She never married nor had children.
During an attack on the city, Christine’s father was killed. Christine’s brother died during World War 2. She liked to help look after her nieces and nephews, always thinking they were like her own children that she never had. Christine went to live with one of her nieces, Margret, in 2008. She had been wheelchair-bound since 2016, and didn't like it very much. She still exercised her arms regularly.
On her 107th birthday, she still had a living sister, Getrudis, who was 101 at that time.
On her 110th birthday, Christine celebrated her birthday with around 30 guests. A song was sung to her, and Mayor Paul Larue visited her and congratulated her.
Christine Hoscheid died in Duren, North-Rhine Westphalia, sometime in 2018 at the age of 111 years.
