Claire Josephine O'Rourke (née Cayot; 23 January 1885 - 26 June 1996) was a validated American supercentenarian.

Biography[]

Claire Cayot was born in California, United States on 23 January 1885, to Francais and Claire Cayot. Her father was born in France. In 1905, Claire married Leonard O'Rourke, and they moved to San Francisco. O'Rourke was eight months pregnant when the 1906 San Francisco earthquake struck. She gave birth to a son, Francis, the following month.

Leonard was treasurer of Plumas County. He died in 1949, and Claire took over his job, serving for 14 years before retiring in 1963. She was the first woman to hold public office in California. O'Rourke continued working as a receptionist at the local Social Security office until retiring at the age of 99. O'Rourke continued volunteer work after retirement.

O'Rourke died in Quincy, California, USA, on 26 June 1996 at the age of 111 years, 155 days.
