Clara Gould Mackenzie (née Moulton; 7 October 1885 – 5 March 1998) was a Canadian-American supercentenarian whose age is validated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Clara Mackenzie was born as Clara Gould Moulton in Newfoundland, Canada on 7 October 1885. She was born to Abraham Moulton and Caroline (Gould) Moulton and had nine siblings, of which she was the eldest.

In the early 1900s, the family moved to the United States, settling in Boston, Massachusetts. On 22 June 1907, she married Donald Mackenzie in Boston and they went on to have three children – Carolyn, Donald Jr and Christine. She spent much of her life in Massachusetts, before moving to Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland in 1965. By 1990, Clara was living in St James Plaza Nursing Facility in Saint James, Suffolk County, New York.

In October 1995, Mackenzie celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

Clara Mackenzie died in Saint James, Suffolk County, New York, USA on 5 March 1998 at the age of 112 years, 149 days.

Mackenzie's age was verified by Anson Davis, Mark Muir, Waclaw Jan Kroczek, and Oliver Trim, and (posthumously) validated by the GRG on 18 June 2016.
