Claudina Higuita de Robledo (30 October 1910 – 20 December 2022) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Early Life and Family[]

Claudina Higuita de Robledo was born in El Naranjo village, Buritica, Antioquia Department, Colombia on 30 October 1910. Her parents were Aniceto Higuita and Estefania Borja. Her mother died when Claudina was only 3 years old. During her childhood, she helped her father to make hats and sell them.

At age 15, she met Luis Alberto Robledo, who was from Santa Fe de Antioquia, and she married him when she was 17. She moved to Santa Fe de Antioquia, more specifically to La Aldea, and has since lived in the same house (which is 300 years old). Claudina had 10 children. Her eldest son Gerardo died in 2019 at the age of 90.

As of May 2020, she had five living children: Laurentina (aged 87), Luisito (aged 80), Manuel (aged 73), Alicia (aged 72), and Diocelina (aged 67). As of October 2020, she had 60 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 145 great-great-grandchildren, four great-great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-great-grandchild.

Later Life[]

In October 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday. At the age of 110, she was still able to read and write without glasses, as well as walking short distances inside her house, however, she had hearing problems. On 16 March 2021, she got vaccinated against Covid-19, making her one of the oldest people to receive the vaccine. At the age of 112, she was still able to walk with assistance.

Higuita de Robledo died in Santa Fe de Antioquia, Antioquia Department, Colombia on 20 December 2022 at the age of 112 years, 51 days.
