Connie Lucero (7 July 1912 – 19 July 2022) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023. She was among the oldest known living people in the U.S. state of California at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Connie Lucero was born in Texas, USA on 7 July 1912. She moved to California at the age of five. She married Joseph Lucero at the age of 14, and had her first child, Joe Lucero, one year after. The couple had ten children in total (five boys and five girls); four of them are deceased as of 2022.
Lucero was a long time resident of Venice, a neighbourhood of Los Angeles, California. She was widowed in 1963, and lived alone in La Palma, Orange County, California. In July 2012, she celebrated her 100th birthday at the La Palma Community Center with 150 family members.
On her 103rd birthday in 2015, Lucero received a letter from the White House. In her centenarian years, she moved into the senior living community "Sunrise" in La Palma. Every Wednesday, she spent time in Los Angeles with her seventh daughter, Mary Ann Gutierrez. She later moved to Culver City, where she celebrated her 110th birthday in July 2022.
Connie Lucero died in Culver City, California, USA on 19 July 2022, at the age of 110 years, 12 days.
