Constance May "Connie" Titchen (5 September 1913 – 27 May 2020) was a British centenarian who was one of oldest known survivors of COVID-19, having recovered from the disease at the age of 106.
Biography[]
Titchen was born in the United Kingdom on 5 September 1913. She was a shop worker and reportedly enjoyed dancing, cycling, and playing golf.
She underwent a hip operation in December 2019, and was back walking again within 30 days. As of 2020, Titchen has five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Titchen died on 27 May 2020, aged 106. She lived in Birmingham, West Midlands, England, UK.
COVID-19 Survival[]
In March 2020, during the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the UK, Titchen was admitted to Birmingham City Hospital with suspected pneumonia. She was later diagnosed with COVID-19, and battled the virus for just under three weeks before successfully recovering. She was applauded by hospital staff as she was discharged on 14 April 2020. At the time, she was the UK's oldest known COVID-19 survivor at 106 years old.
