Custodia Maria Inacia [Portuguese: Custódia Maria Inácia] (26 April 1913 – 14 July 2023) was a Portuguese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Custodia Maria Inacia was born in Odemira, Beja District, Portugal on 26 April 1913.

Custódia never went to school and is illiterate. She worked from a very young age in agriculture and later as a housekeeper. Her first job was when she was 4 years old, picking olives.

She lived most of her life in Odemira, Beja District, but she also lived for a period of time in the nursing home of Cercal do Alentejo, in Santiago do Cacem, Setúbal District.

In 2018, when she was 105 years old, she moved to the nursing home "Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Faro" in Faro, Faro District, Portugal where she died on 14 July 2023 at the age of 110 years, 79 days.

At age 107 she contracted covid-19, having easily recovered from the disease.

She was the first known supercentenarian born in the region of Alentejo.

At the time of her death, she was the fourth-oldest known living person from Portugal, behind Inacia Carmelino, Maria da Conceicao Brito and Deolinda da Nazare.
