Da Costa McDonald (13 August 1918 – 19 October 2025) was a Grenadian-born Trinidadian centenarian who was the oldest living Grenadian-born man, and the second-oldest known living man in Trinidad and Tobago (behind Irving Joseph) at the time of his death. He is currently the oldest known Grenadian-born man ever.

Biography[]

Da Costa McDonald was born in Saint Patrick Parish, Grenada, on 13 August 1918. He went to an Anglican school in his hometown and read a lot of books before becoming qualified in pharmacy.

In 1941 at the age of 23, he moved to Trinidad and Tobago. At the age of 30, he married his wife, Nevlyn Noel McDonald, and the couple had no children.

During his working career, he worked at UBOT-Shell, where he was employed as a Gauger between 1941 to 1967. In 1969, he went to Canada, and remained for 20 years and 6 months, where he worked as a machine operator, although he started collecting pension in 1967. He came back to Trinidad in 1989, and his wife died in 1999, at the age of 82. Since her death, he lived alone.

On 13 August 2018, he celebrated his 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian.

On 25 January 2022, following the death of 104-year-old Vincent Lett of Grenada, he became the oldest known living Grenadian-born man.

On 17 August 2025, at the age of 107 years, 4 days, she surpassed the final age of Julien Bridgeman (1913–2020) of the United Kingdom, of 107 years, 3 days, becoming the oldest known Grenadian-born man ever.

Da Costa McDonald died in Canaan Road, Mahaica, Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago, on 19 October 2025, at the age of 107 years, 67 days.
