Emma Daisy Jones (née Owens; 10 March 1881 – 18 August 1991) was a British-born Canadian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Daisy Jones was born in London, England, United Kingdom, on 10 March 1881. Her parents were John Owen and Adelaide (npee Parmetor) Owen. She had nine siblings.
Jones married railroad worker Frank Jones in March 1899 at the age of 18. A few years later, their first child Daisy May was born. The three of them emigrated to Canada in September 1908, settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The couple went on to have a son in 1912, also named after their parent. She became a widow in 1946 after her husband’s death.
She survived a fall at the age of 100. On her 103rd birthday in 1984, she had a little difficulty hearing and seeing. She could still walk with the help of a walker. Her daughter Daisy May died in 1994 at the age of 92. Her younger brother was still alive at the time.
Daisy Jones died in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on 18 August 1991 at the age of 110 years, 161 days.
