Longevity claimant |
Daniel Campbell (12 December 1725? – 12 December 1843) was a Scottish-American longevity claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Daniel Campbell claimed to have been born in Skye, Scotland on 12 December 1725. His parents were Angus Campbell (1674-?) and Isobel Munro (1700-?). He married his wife, Effie McLean (20 January 1726/1730? - 11 December 1843) in 1749 and they claimed to have been married for 94 years. His wife would have been 117/113 at the time of her death. She died the day before Daniel Campbell did.
At some point in his life Daniel Campbell immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Walton, Florida where he lived for the rest of his life.
If his age were verified he would have been the oldest man as well as person in the world at the time of his death. He would also have been the oldest person ever until 22 February 1993 when Jeanne Calment would have surpassed his claimed age. That would mean that he held the title of world's oldest person for 150 years after his death. He would still be the oldest man ever if his age were verified.
Daniel Campbell died in Walton, Florida, USA on 12 December 1843, his claimed 118th birthday, just one day after his wife died. His claimed age was 118 years, 0 days.
