Daniel Romano Guego (21 July 1905 – 28 March 2015) was a Uruguayan centenarian.
Biography[]
Daniel Romano was born in Paso de los Toros, Tacuarembo, Uruguay on 21 July 1905. His parents were Vicente Romano and Maria Guego. He was baptized in Santa Isabel, Paso de los Toros, Tacuarembo, Uruguay on 12 April 1913.
He married Carmen Machado in 1929 and they had three children. He worked as a mechanic throughout his life.
He was the protagonist in the Evacuation of Paso de los Toros in 1959, when with a loudspeaker he gave the alert to the Elizabethans that the city had to be abandoned due to the danger of the important flood of the Negro River.
Romano did not prevent himself from eating anything and did not take any type of medication.
Ad of July 2014, he had four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Romano died in Paso de los Toros, Tacuarembo, Uruguay on 28 March 2015 at the age of 109 years, 250 days. He was the oldest known man ever from Uruguay until Valoy Ortiz surpassed his age on 28 July 2021.
