Centenarian

David Nathan Wiener (30 January 1902 – 20 December 2011) was a Canadian centenarian who was the oldest living man in Canada and the third-oldest man ever from Quebec at the time of his death.

Biography[]

David Wiener was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on 30 January 1902. He had several siblings. One of his brothers, Robert Wiener (1908-2019), lived to be 110, potentially making the Wieners the second-oldest known pair of brothers of all time. David later married Liette Belanger and had a son, Michael, with her.

Wiener became the oldest man in Canada following the death of Manitoba’s Johannes Markusson on 14 March 2009. In his final years, he was still mentally sharp, but he had live-in caregivers to look after him.

Wiener died in Montreal, Canada, on 20 December 2011 due to health issues at the age of 109 years, 324 days.

At the time of his death, Wiener was the fifth-oldest man ever to die in Canada. He was succeeded as Canada’s oldest man by then-108-year-old Sam Baker (1903-2013) of Manitoba.
