Debendra Nath Ghosh (22 April 1890 – 11 January 1999) was a Bangladeshi centenarian and politician.
Biography[]
Debendra Nath Ghosh was born in Barisal, Bangladesh on 22 April 1890. His parents were Nibaron Ghosh and Rajlakshmi Ghosh. He took part in the Bengali Language Movement. He was elected as a member of the East Bengal Legislative Assembly in 1954. He was imprisoned for a total of 27 years for protesting in the British and Pakistan periods and afterwards.
Debendra Nath Ghosh died in his home in Barisal, Bangladesh on 11 January 1999 at the age of 108 years, 259 days.[1] He is currently oldest known man from Bangladesh.
