Dora Sylvia Credle (née Barnes; 21 July 1911 – 9 January 2022) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Dora Credle was born in Wilson, North Carolina, USA on 21 July 1911 (a report from 2012 says 1913) to William Samuel and Emma (Mincey) Barnes. Her father was a preacher. She married Raymond Credle in January 1932 and the family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1941, where they raised their children in Marshall Heights.
In 2012, she was reported to live with her son, Sylvester Credle. In 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
Credle died in Washington, D.C., USA on 9 January 2022 at the age of 110 years, 172 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in District of Columbia.
