Dora Sukanec (1 February 1903 – 29 July 2010) was a Croatian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Croatia at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Dora Sukanec was born in the village of Hrženica, Varaždin County, Austria-Hungary (now Croatia), on 1 February 1903. At some point, she married and had four children. She worked for 33 years in an alcohol factory as a taster, and spent the rest of her working years in a pencil and battery factory. She was retired for over 50 years.

On 1 February 2003, she celebrated her 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian. The then mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, visited her on every her birthday between 2005 and 2010.

On 14 November 2008, following the death of 107-year-old Kata Čavić, she became the oldest known living person in Croatia.

Dora Sukanec died in Utrina, Zagreb County, Croatia, on 29 July 2010, at the age of 107 years, 178 days. Following her death, then 105-year-old Ljubica Lončar became the oldest known living person in Croatia.
