Dorothy Julia Hunter (née Danner; 31 July 1907 – 22 September 2017) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography
Hunter was born in Tower Grove South, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, USA, on 31 July 1907. She attended Harris Teachers College for a few years before graduating from Washington University. She taught sixth grade students for about 10 years. She then taught third grade from 1943 to 1973 at Robinson Elementary in the Kirkwood School District before retiring.
Dorothy met Harry Hunter at a voice studio next to a theatre. They were married on 4 January 1930, and had one child, Julie. She has outlived them both.
Hunter moved in to a retirement community in St. Louis in around 2004. She only gave up driving when she was 102. Her hobbies included sewing, travelling, and cooking. She died in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, on 22 September 2017 at the age of 110 years, 53 days.
