Dorothy Masayo Kuroiwa (née Hayami, 12 February 1906 – 3 November 2016) was an American supercentenarian who is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Dorothy was born in Kona, Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States on 12 February 1906 to Japanese-born parents, Mankuro and Kiyo Hayami. She grew up in Kona and worked on her father's coffee farm. As a teenager, she moved to Oahu to attend business school. She married Masato Kuroiwa on 3 April 1926. They had four children: Walter, Kenneth, Caroline Harada and Doris Noda.
Dorothy lived in Manoa, Hawaii. She is the third-oldest Hawaiian-born supercentenarian (after Laurence Thompson and Hanako Hashimoto) and was the oldest living Hawaii resident. She died on 3 November 2016 at the age of 110 years, 265 days.
