Dorothy McClements (née Cossey; 7 May 1909 – 1 February 2020) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography[]
McClements was born in Stillwater, New York, USA, to Herbert and Cecelia Cossey, on 7 May 1909. She was raised by a friend of the family. As a young woman, she worked at the Ballston Knitting Mill in Stillwater, which manufactured socks, before later working as a hospital maid. In 1928, she married Robert McClements, and their marriage lasted until his death in 1987. The couple had eight children.
At the age of 98, McClements fell and broke her hip, and subsequently underwent a hip operation. She lived in the same house in which she was born, in Stillwater, New York. She had a pet parrot, named Peaches. As of 2018, she had 151 direct descendants. She celebrated her 110th birthday in May 2019.
McClements died in Stillwater, New York, USA, on 1 February 2020, at the age of 110 years, 270 days.
