Early Life[]
Dulcie Fawcett was born as Dulcie Martha Mutter in Balaklava, South Australia, Australia on 30 January 1913. Her parents were William Mutter and Amy Louisa Sampson. She was the youngest of three children. In her youth, she resided with her parents on one of her grandfather's farms in Balaklava.
Fawcett was schooled at home for one year, and then she attended the Dudawa State School. To get to school, she either walked or rode a pony. She later left school early and completed her education by correspondence. Assignments were mailed to her from the Department of Education, completed and mailed back for marking.
In 1926, along with her parents and sister Ethel, Fawcett left South Australia and moved to a farm in Western Australia. She resided in Dudawa until 1938. Towards the end of 1939, she moved in with her parents in the Perth suburb of Belmont.
On 6 July 1940, she married Herbert Barkla "Bert" Fawcett in Perth. The couple had four daughters (including a stillborn daughter on 5 May 1942). The couple lived in Arrino until 1949, when they moved to Nabawa.
Later Life[]
In 1974, the couple moved to Yetna, where Fawcett's husband died in 1990. Shortly before her husband's death, he sold the farm they lived on.
At her family's request, Fawcett later moved into Harbour Pines Retirement Village in Geraldton,.
In January 2023, Fawcett celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Dulcie Fawcett died in Geraldton, Western Australia, Australia on 2 November 2023 at the age of 110 years, 276 days.
