Edith Francis (née Byfield; 20 March 1880 – 28 July 1990) was a Jamaican supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the first supercentenarian ever from Jamaica.
Biography[]
Edith Francis was born Edith Byfield on 20 March 1880 in Saint Mary, Jamaica to parents Thomas and Leticia (née Hinds) Byfield. Her father was a labourer. By World War 1, she had moved to the parish of Saint Andrew, Jamaica. On 7 June 1916, she married Alexander Emanuel Francis in Saint Andrew. At some point in her life, she was widowed.
Edith Francis died on 28 July 1990 in Saint Andrew at the age of 110 years, 130 days.
