Edith Marian Jones (née Osborn; 30 June 1893 – 19 August 2003) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Edith Jones claimed to have been born in Ogle County, Illinois, USA on 30 June 1892, but the 1900 US Census lists her as born in June 1893. Her parents were Frank Osborn and Marian (née Hall) Osborn. She had three siblings.
She married Charles Jones in Winnebago, Illinois, USA on 30 December 1922. The couple adopted two children: the twins Marian Frew (1925–2016) and Marshall Jones (1925–2013) and had one biological son: Richard Jones (born 1932). She got widowed in 1973.
Longevity runs in her family: her paternal grandmother Lucinda Osborn lived to be 90, her father lived to be 99, her paternal aunt Grace Osborn lived to be 100 and her paternal aunt Blanche Osborn lived to be 91.
Jones died in Winnebago, Illinois, USA on 19 August 2003 at the age of 110 years, 50 days (claimed 111 years, 50 days).
