Edith Marie Wolfe (née Hansen; 29 September 1912 – 19 June 2022) was an American centenarian who was one of the oldest known survivors of COVID-19, having recovered from the disease at the age of 107. She was also among the oldest known living people in the U.S. state of Florida at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Edith Wolfe was born as Edith Marie Hansen in Aurora, Illinois, USA on 29 September 1912 to Olaf and Ida (née Nelson) Hansen. She was a home maker, and attended Keystone United Methodist church. She was married to J. Verne Wolfe.
Early on during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wolfe was moved into the "COVID unit" of her nursing home after contracting the disease in the early stages of the pandemic. However, by early June 2020, she had tested negative for the virus twice and was moved out of the unit, making her one of the oldest known survivors of the disease.
Wolfe died at her nursing home in Keystone Heights, Florida, USA on 19 June 2022, at the age of 109 years, 263 days. She was survived by her daughter Katheryn Wolfe Pennington, her son J. Verne Wolfe II, six grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
