Effie Mae Caffee (11 February 1902 – 23 February 2013) was an American supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Texas and the 59th-oldest living person in the world.
Biography[]
Effie Mae Caffee was born in Cordell, Oklahoma, USA on 11 February 1902. At the age of 4, she moved with her family to Portales, New Mexico in a buggy and covered wagon. At the age of 15, her family moved to Ralls, Texas where she graduated from high school.
She married Luther Caffee on 17 September 1922. The couple had two children. She worked at Manhattan Department Store for 16 years. She remained active in the Burkburnett Senior Citizen Center until she moved to Royal Estates in 2007. She was recognized and honored at the age of 105 by the Burkburnett Chamber of Commerce as the oldest citizen in the community. Effie Mae legally drove in the town of Burk up to the age of 107.
Mae Caffee died in Burkburnett, Texas, USA on 23 February 2013 at the age of 111 years, 12 days. She was survived by two children, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, three nieces, and one nephew.
