Efrain Nunez Nunez [Spanish: Efraín Núñez Núñez] (28 December 1904 – 22 May 2017) was a Dominican Republic supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the oldest living person in the Dominican Republic.

Biography[]

Efrain Nunez Nunez was born in Boca De Bao, Santiago Province, Dominican Republic on 28 December 1904. His parents were Ramon Antonio Nunez and Teolinda Nunez.

He worked as a farmer. In 1930, he married Ozema Collado and had 11 children: Agripino (1933–2022), Jose, Cristina, Guillermo, Juan, Marina, Antonia, Ramon, Jesus, Maria, and Hipolito.

In February 2004, aged 99, he was recognized by the North American Social Security.

His son, Agripino Nunez Collado was a Roman Catholic clergyman and scholar.

In December 2014, he celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.

Efrain Nunez Nunez died in the El Ensueno neighbourhood of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic on 22 May 2017 at the age of 112 years, 145 days. He was the oldest known person ever in the Dominican Republic, until 24 August 2018, when his age was surpassed by Tomas Pinales Figuereo (1906–2020).
