Ejra Grimstam (29 June 1912 – 25 September 2023) was a Swedish supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022. She was believed to be the third-oldest known living person in Sweden after Gunborg Hancock and Agnes Bostrom, and the second-oldest known living Swedish-born person after Bostrom, as Hancock was born in Finland.
Biography[]
Ejra Grimstam was born in Sjotofta, Tranemo Municipality, Vastra Gotaland County, Sweden, on 29 June 1912, and grew up on a farm. She married her husband Thure in 1945 and the family settled in Oskarstrom, outside Halmstad. They had two daughters, Maj-Britt and Siv.
When Grimstam's husband died in 1992, she moved to the municipality of Ale to be closer to her daughter Siv. After living a few years at Bohus Servicehus, she moved to Backavik Nursing Home in Nodinge, where she has lived for the past nine years.
As of her 110th birthday in 2022, she had seven great-grandchildren. Her family attributed her longevity to her positive attitude, and her avoidance of drinking and smoking.
Grimstam died in Nodinge, Vastra Gotaland, Sweden on 25 September 2023 at the age of 111 years, 88 days.
