Elario Questas (4 August 1893 – 5 February 1999, claimed 6 August 1886) was a Filipino-American centenarian who claimed to be the world's oldest living man at time of his death.
Biography[]
Elario Questas was born in Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines on 3 August 1893 (claimed 6 August 1886).
He moved to Hawaii after being promised free rent, free water and $20 a month in plantation wages.
He worked in the sugar and pineapple fields in Hawaii and the Kona coffee fields before making his way to Maui, where he began working for Pioneer Mill in 1914.
In 1937, he began growing taro for the Ah Sing Chun family in Honokohau.Family members allowed him to live on the land for his labor, and he stayed for more than 50 years.
He kept fit well into his 90s, riding a bicycle several miles between Honokohau Valley and Lahaina.
He was a veteran of both World Wars.
Elario Questas died of chronic heart failure at Maui Memorial Hospital in Kahului, Hawaii, USA on 5 February 1999 at the age of 105 years, 186 days (claimed 112 years, 183 days).
