Elena Slough (née Rodenbaugh; 4 July 1889 – 5 October 2003) was a validated American supercentenarian.

Biography

Elena Slough was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on 4 July 1889 to Sylvester and Margaret Rodenbaugh. Her first husband, who died during the 1918 influenza pandemic, was Edwin Proctor with whom she had a daughter, Wanda. Her second husband was Charles Slough with whom she had a son, Charles. Her second husband died in 1937.

She was recognised as the oldest living person in the United States from the death of Mary Christian on 20 April 2003, until her own death, aged 114 years, 93 days, six months later. After her death, the oldest recognized person in the United States was Charlotte Benkner. Slough died in a nursing home in Cape May County, New Jersey, USA, on 5 October 2003, three days after her daughter had died at the same nursing home. She was survived by a son.

Her older brother, Sylvester, died in 1988 at the age of 101.
