Elias Chavez Alvarez [Spanish: Elías Chávez Álvarez] (8 November 1908?/8 November 1928 – 17 April 2024) was an exaggerated Mexican supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by Guinness World Records (GWR). If his claimed age were validated, he would have been the oldest known living person in Mexico, and the oldest known living man in the world from the death of Emilio Flores Marquez of Puerto Rico on 12 August 2021, until his own death.

Elias Chavez Alvarez claimed to have been born in Manzanillo, Mexico on 8 November 1908. He claimed that he took part in the Mexican Revolution, and often told stories of how he used to ride a horse. The nursing home he died at claims to have his original birth certificate, but so far this has not been confirmed.

Elias Chavez Alvarez died in Colima, Mexico on 17 April 2024 at the claimed age of 115 years, 161 days. If his claimed age were validated, he would be the third-oldest known man ever, after Jiroemon Kimura and Christian Mortensen.
Age possible falsing[]
In 2022, some women who claimed to be his granddaughters said that he was born in 1928, which means he would've only been 95 when he died. However, there is no proof that Chavez Alvarez had children, so this information is likely false.
Age possible debunking[]
A birth record found for an Elias Chavez Alvarez on FamilySearch shows a birth of 3 January 1925. However, the birthplace from the record on FamilySearch, does not match the birthplace of Chavez Alvarez's ID card. If this birth record did belong to Chavez Alvarez, he would've only been 99 when he died, and not 115. As of 2025, it has not been proven whether this record does belong to him, and it has not been proven whether he was truly 115 or not.
