Elida Calvo de Jimenez [Spanish: Élida Calvo de Jiménez] (4 August 1904 – 12 June 2016) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Calvo de Jimenez was born in a village in the countryside of La Candelaria, Atlantico, Colombia on 4 August 1904. She was the daughter of Marcos Calvo and Genoveva Castilo. At the age of 21, she married Carlos Nelson Jimenez, who was a doctor, dentist and mayor of the town of La Candelaria. The couple had seven children.
Most of Calvo de Jimenez's descendants emigrated to the United States, Chile, and Saudi Arabia. She moved to Barranquilla in 1935 and she would spend the rest of her life there. She got a pacemaker inserted aged 99. On her 111th birthday in 2015, it was reported she was in good health, and she was living with her granddaughter (daughter of her son Jorge), who was 65 at the time.
Calvo de Jimenez died in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia on 12 June 2016 at the age of 111 years, 313 days.
