Elisa Avalos Cardenas [Spanish: Ávalos Cárdenas] (27 July 1911 – 10 September 2021) was a Mexican supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Elisa Avalos Cardenas was born in Emiliano Zapata, Villamar, Michoacan, Mexico on 27 July 1911, although she claimed to have been born on 17 July. Her parents were Filomeno Avalos and Maria Cardenas. At the age of 14, she married 22-year-old C. Jesus Rodriguez Valencia, originally from Villamar, in the Alfredo Adler school in December 1925, because at that time the churches were closed due to the Cristero War. She had with him 12 children (7 daughters and 5 sons). At age 109, she had 120 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, 42 great-great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-great-grandchildren. In July 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
Elisa Avalos Cardenas died in Villamar, Michoacan, Mexico, at the age of 110 years, 45 days (claimed 110 years, 55 days).
