Biography[]
Elisabeth Ross was born on 23 September 1907 in Berlin, Germany. As a young child, she joined a swimming club and later became an active swimmer. She went swimming at 7 o’clock every morning until she was 95. She was an active member of a furniture advisory board and co-organised many trips and excursions. In around 1987, she moved into an assisted living facility. She had no children.
Travelling was one of Elisabeth’s lifelong passions. When she was 80, she went on a trip to Paris. On her 85th birthday in 1992, she went to South Africa to visit her friend, but ended up slipping and falling while bathing in the sea. She took it lightly, only seeming concerned about her hair getting wet.
Theatre and concert visits and the Christmas market are some of the activities that Elisabeth enjoys at the assisted living facility. On her 100th birthday in 2007, there was a big celebration, and Elisabeth was dancing around the hall. By her 110th birthday in 2017, she was wheelchair-bound and did not talk much, but, as her grandniece said, she was still mentally sharp.
Elisabeth Ross died sometime between 2017 and 2018 in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany, at the age of 110. At the time of her death, she was among the top 15 oldest living people in Germany.
