Elisabeth Schneider (19 August 1901 – 9 February 2013) was a validated German supercentenarian who was the oldest person in Germany from the death of Karolina Grober on 21 November 2011 until her own death.
Biography[]
Elisabeth Schneider was born in Bad Oeynhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on 19 August 1901. She had two sisters. She married in 1923 and gave birth to a daughter two years after. Elisabeth Schneider lived on her own until the age of 97. On her 111th birthday in 2012, being already the oldest living person in Germany, being asked for the secret of her longevity, she replied, laughing, that others just would have given up gasping for breath.
Schneider died in a retirement home in Varel, Lower Saxony, Germany on 9 February 2013 at the age of 111 years, 174 days. She was survived by her daughter, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
