Elisabeth van der Burg-Leusveld (25 March 1864 – 16 January 1973) was the oldest living person in The Netherlands, following the death of Elisabeth Weddige-Tedsen on 19 July 1971.
Biography
Elisabeth van der Burg-Leusveld was born in Leiden, Netherlands, on 25 March 1864. Not much about her life in middle age is known about Elisabeth van der Burg-Leusveld, besides that she married and got six children, of whom she all survived. She moved to retirement home 'Uitzicht' in the capital of Amsterdam at the age of 104, after her last remaining son died two weeks earlier. At the same age, Elisabeth van der Burg-Leusveld set another record besides being the oldest living resident in The Netherlands; she underwent an surgery of an ileus (a disruption of the normal propulsive ability of the gastrointestinal tract) successfully.
Elisabeth van der Burg-Leusveld died in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 16 January 1973 at the age of 108 years, 297 years. Following her death, Johanna Leeuwenburg-Hordijk became the oldest living person in The Netherlands.
