Eliza Emerson (neé Ames) (21 July 1888 – 3 October 1999) was an American supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest people in the United States when she died.
Biography[]
Eliza Emerson was born in Pembroke, New Hampshire, USA, on 21 July 1888 to Albert and Ettie (née Leaver) Ames. She was a 1907 graduate of Pembroke Academy.
Eliza worked as a self-employed seamstress for many years, retiring in 1985 at the age of 97. Her husband of 20 years, George Emerson, died in 1942. The couple had no children.
Eliza Emerson died in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA on 3 October 1999 at the age of 111 years, 74 days[1][2]. She was the state's oldest known resident at the time of her death.
