Elizabeth Auguiste (21 March 1914 – 15 October 2021), also known as Ma Willy, was a Dominican centenarian who was one of the oldest victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. She was also the oldest known living person in Dominica at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Elizabeth Auguiste was born in Roseau, Dominica on 21 March 1914. Her parents were Alicia Thomas and Joseph Auguiste. She was the second of three children.

In 1935, Auguiste gave birth to Rita, her first daughter. In September 1943, she married Willie Auguiste (deceased as of 2014), and had 12 children (seven dead as of 2021) with him.

On her 100th birthday, Auguiste was reported to be in good health, although suffering of glaucoma. In her centenarian years, her daughter Jennifer Tyson began to take care of her.

In March 2021, Auguiste celebrated her 107th birthday. At the time, she was reported to be the oldest living person in Dominica. At the age of 107, she was reportedly bedridden, had pain in knees, and sometimes had an upset stomach.

Elizabeth Auguiste died of COVID-19 at hospital in Portsmouth, Dominica on the evening of 15 October 2021, at the age of 107 years, 208 days. Following her death, Anastasie Charles (born 26 April 1914) became Dominica's oldest living person.
