Elizabeth Gallagher (née Rooney; 15 September 1908 – 25 March 2017) was an Irish centenarian noted for being the oldest living person in Ireland.[1]

Biography[]

Elizabeth was born as Elizabeth Rooney in Moneygold, Ireland (then part of the UK), on 15 September 1908. She was one of five children born to Francis and Bridget Rooney. She married and had three children, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She became the oldest person in Ireland on 27 December 2016, then aged 108, following the death of 108-year-old Sarah Clancy.

Elizabeth Gallagher passed away in Ballintrillick, Ireland, on 25 March 2017 at the age of 108 years, 191 days. She was succeeded as Ireland's oldest person by 107-year-old Margaret Boland.
