Elizabeth R. Marazi (26 August 1907 – 1 April 2019) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography[]
Elizabeth Marazi was born in Alpha, New Jersey, on 26 August 1907, She was the child of Hungarian immigrants Alexander and Rose Marazi. She grew up speaking Hungarian at home and learning English at school. She had five brothers. Her father lived to the age of 95, but her mother only lived to 62.
Instead of going to high school, Marazi went to Churchman Business School on Spring Garden Street in Easton for three years, where she learned dictation, shorthand and typing. She graduated in 1924 at the age of 17, becoming its youngest graduate.
Marazi was an executive secretary, last employed by Agrashell Inc. in Easton, Pennsylvania. She has previously worked for Lehigh Portland Cement Company for 20 years. She was a member of the former St. Michael’s Catholic Church (now Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church), where she was a former secretary of the Sacred Heart Sodality. She had a number of important roles, including as the treasurer of Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Marazi never married and had no children. She moved from her Easton home to a nursing home in Gracedale, Pennsylvania in April 2009, when she was 101. She died on 1 April 2019 at the age of 111 years, 218 days.
