Elizabeth Philippina van Boven-Smaal (born 5 January 1915) is a Dutch supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is currently the oldest known (documented) living person in the Netherlands.
Biography[]
Elizabeth Philippina van Boven-Smaal was born in in Overschie, Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands, on 5 January 1915. At the age of 23, on 27 July 1938, she married Wouter van Boven, in Rotterdam.
On 11 March 2024, following the death of 111-year-old Marina van der Es-Siewers, she became the oldest known living woman in the Netherlands.
On 5 January 2025, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. On her 110th birthday, she was visited by the mayor of Capelle aan den IJssel, Joost Manusama.
On 21 July 2025, following the death of 111-year-old Jan van Ierland, she became the oldest known living person in the Netherlands (excluding the case of John Huang).
Elizabeth Philippina van Boven-Smaal currently lives in Capelle aan den IJssel, South Holland, Netherlands, at the age of 110 years, 314 days.
