Ella Collington claimed to have been born in Bonnie Doone Plantation, Walterboro, South Carolina, USA on 30 May 1903. Her parents were Simon White and Virginia (née Colleton) White. She had 4 siblings.
On her claimed 113th birthday, she had one living sister Sue Fishburne (aged 88) and one living brother Nathan White (aged 90).
