Elsie Emma Harrington (née Cleiss; 4 February 1911 – 14 March 2021) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Elsie Harrington was born in Schenectady, New York, USA on 4 February 1911. Her parents were German immigrants George Cleiss and Emma (née Kretchmann) Cleiss. She had four siblings: Margaret Breitenstein, Dorothy Quante, Mildred Westover and George Cleiss. She was a graduate of Schenectady High School.
She married Myron Harrington in June 1934 and they were married for 60 years until his death in March 1995. The couple had three children: Myron Harrington Jr, Russell Harrington and James Harrington.
She lived in Schenectady but spent her summers at "The Farm" on Skyline Drive. She was a member of the Eagles for 50 years and a member and past President of the Rebekahs for over 50 years.
Elsie Harrington died in Schenectady, New York, USA on 14 March 2021 at the age of 110 years, 38 days. At time of her death, she had 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
